This budget self-emptying robotic vacuum cleaner does a great job on low-pile carpet and hard flooring. The combination brush is able to reach the edges and corners and it automatically increases suction when it detects carpet. It also does a great job of cleaning embedded dirt off carpet in the middle. The IQ's small footprint for docks and the self-emptying feature are both nice features. However, if you wish to change the floor levels on the map, or set no-go zones, you'll need to manually reset it to do this, which is somewhat of a hassle.
The IQ app offers some advanced mapping and automated features, but it does not have no-go zones. These are only available on iRobot robots. Its intelligent-pathing navigational system gives you greater maneuverability, and its high-pile carpet mode cleans well, although it tends to get caught up in rug tassels. Its iHome speaker lets you control the robot using voice commands.
In our tests in our tests, the IQ was able to handle pet hair well, clearing an impressive amount of debris from floors with no flooring and fair amounts of medium-pile carpet. It was less efficient with shag carpets, where it was unable to reach dirt and dust embedded within the fibers. It did a decent job of maneuvering around chair legs and tight spaces as well as the wooden base of an IKEA step stool. We did notice it was a bit slower on bare floors but it quickly recovered and performed better than other robots we tested.
The IQ is a better option for the majority of users than the iRobot Roomba. It has a larger dustbin and a longer battery lifespan, and is better in navigating around obstacles. It also has a mopping attachment that can deal with sticky messes. On the other side the iRobot feels better-built and has fewer parts that require maintenance or replacement and has lower recurring costs and creates virtual no-go zones through its companion app. It can even resume cleaning from the point it started if it is unable to recharge its battery prior to finishing the job. The iRobot can also be controlled using voice, which is a huge benefit for many users.
Eufy 11S
The RoboVac 11S by eufy isn't exactly the most feature-rich robot vacuum on the market but it does provide great cleaning power for a low price. It's a budget-friendly option for buyers who don't require a complex mapping system or app to control the device. The robot is capable of running for a long time and includes the remote, a cleaning tool, AC power adapter, charging base, and additional filters.
The 11S is slim and sleek, with a tempered glass upper deck that covers plastic and is made to look like brushed aluminum. It's a nice departure from Roomba, Samsung, and Neato designs that are more industrial and utilitarian.
The eufy11S was successful in our tests of removing larger debris and fine dust from hard floors. However, it was unable to give high and medium pile carpets a thorough clean. The device also has a tendency to smack into furniture and people that are in its path however, it's able detect these obstacles using sensors. It ceases and emits a loud noise when it comes across an obstruction. You can then manually guide the device around the obstacle and get it to work again.
The BoostIQ mode is a great feature of the eufy11S. It lets you set the robot up to automatically adjust the suction strength based on the floor type and the level of mess. The remote control makes it simple to direct the 11S to your desired location.
If you don't have many furniture in the space where you're looking to vacuum Single Room Mode is an excellent alternative. The eufy is capable of spending up to 30 minutes cleaning the space it is assigned.
